What is & Why chose HDPE?
Reliable, Robust & Maintenance Free is just the start……
HDPE is an extruded Polyethylene with Specific Gravity (SG) 0.96 making it naturally buoyant. Combined with HDPE’s other characteristics give us the ability to produce unsinkable boats that withstand high levels of continued abuse.
-
High repeated impact & fatigue strength.
-
50+ years high UV resistance.
-
Serviceable in environments -50°c to +80°c
-
High resistance to chemicals & marine growth.
-
Environmentally friendly 100% recyclable.
-
Does not rust, rot, corrode, delaminate or develop osmosis.
-
Excellent insulation properties.
-
No maintenance.
-
No antifoul required.
When compared to more “traditional” boat building materials of aluminium, steel and FRP (Fibreglass) - HDPE out preforms them all with superior qualities from Buoyancy to UV stability and everything in-between.
HDPE does not require paint systems that need continued maintenance (or fail). No antifoul required for permanently immersed hulls, marine growth simply can't stick.
